Sponsored Pheasant hunt applications open

Posted

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is accepting applications for sponsored pheasant hunts. Sponsored hunts are free, non-competitive events open to the public and coordinated by a group, club, individual, or organization to benefit youth, women, first-time hunters, veterans, people with disabilities, and other underrepresented groups. As part of the program, the DEC will distribute up to 6,000 mature pheasants annually to sponsoring organizations across New York state. Pheasants are provided free of cost, with a maximum of two pheasants per registered hunter.

Those hoping to host a sponsored pheasant hunt can find a link to the application on DEC’s Learn to Hunt page: dec.ny.gov/things-to-do/hunting/learn-to-hunt-opportunities-in-new-york

Details and registration information for approved sponsored pheasant hunt will be posted on DEC’s mentored hunting opportunities page.

Applications are due by Sept. 1.
