Sidney woman indicted for welfare fraud

DELHI - Dolores Barse, 59, Sidney, was indicted by the Delaware County Grand Jury June 13 and charged with third degree welfare fraud and first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, accused of obtaining $14,203 in welfare benefits she was not entitled to. Specifically, Barse is alleged to have concealed her true income from the Department of Social Services, a press release from the district attorney’s office stated.

Barse entered a not guilty plea to the charges and was released on recognizance, with conditions, scheduled to return to court July 8.
